The Bonny Bay of Biscayo, comes from Lena Bourne Fish of East Jaffrey NH, as recorded by Anne and Frank Warner. I thought of singing the old Amherst version of the song "How Come That Blood," but this one fit the mood of the day better. We spent the afternoon at Walter's house here in Amherst, and boiled sap in Walter's dad's excellent boiling contraption. The sun was warm but there was still a bite in the air. I saw my first honeybee of the season, and the red winged blackbirds were singing like crazy. Birds and children, smoke and syrup, warm sun and patches of snow... Today it snowed again, but not for long- it's getting warmer, but the sap is still running.

  • I was wondering if you had any ideas of how to acheive the same sound on a guitar? any particular tuning? also this song is great, i especially like how the guitar and melody counterpoint each other in the last verse

  • I don't know how you could get a guitar to sound like this since the bajo sexto strings are so much heavier, but you could sure tune the guitar to some open tuning like dgdggd to be able to play the tune without having to throw chords in there...

  • what towne in NH?

  • East Jaffrey (now it's just Jaffrey)...

  • Whats your tuning?

  • It's a bajo sexto I rigged up for playing this kind of song. I think the tuning is approximately (top to bottom) gg cc GG ebEb bbBb cC

  • There's nothing better than sap season. I think I'll have my bajo out during our boil in Northern Michigan this year.

  • thanks, ill give it a go. keep up the good work! your music is incredible btw

  • I've listened to this song a dozen times and I still love to come back to it. It always has a different feeling. Where did you learn it?

  • I love this song and the atmosphere in the video. Absolutely awesome as usual, Tim. :)
