Other Blues covers available ("Walking Blues" "Stormy Monday"), Doors "Light My Fire" and Bob Dylan's "Knockin' on heaven's door" + some originals ("Mississippi", "House Of Blues", "In The End")
Bob Dylan recorded that song in 1969
It first appeared on "Nashville Skyline", the unique country album Dylan did ever made ("Self Portrait?").
It never has been covered as a duet, i think
The album "French Connection" (from which this version is taken)reached place N°1 in Living Blues Chart (january 2010), N°3 in Roots Music report (same month)
Zora has been nominated for "best female Blues artist" at the Blues music Award in Memphis (may 2010 and 2011)
other great songs on Nashville Skyline are
"Peggy Day", "I threw it all away","Country Pie","To be alone with you", "Girl From The North Country" (with Johnny Cash),"Lay Lady Lay", "One more Night",
The song appears also on the Bootleg Series 5 but the version is very different.
The year after, (1970), Bob Dylan released "Self Portrait". A few good numbers on that one too, like "Gotta travel on","It hurts me too", "early morning rain"(written by Gordon Lightfoot), a very funny cover of Paul Simon'"The Boxer", "Let it be me"(Everly Brothers). It contains extracts from Bob Dylan's concert in Isle of Wight ("she belongs to me", "Mighty Quinn", "Like a rolling stone" and "Menestrel boy". There is a famous photo of the Beatles (Ringo, John and George) in the audience somewhere on Internet
Lyrics are:
Throw my ticket out the window
Throw my suitcase out there too
Throw my troubles out the door
I don't need them any more
'Cause tonight I'll be staying here with you.
I should have left this town this morning
But it was more than I could do
Oh, your love comes on so strong
And I've waited all day long
For tonight when I'll be staying here with you.
Is it really any wonder
The love that a stranger might receive
You cast your spell and I went under
I find it so difficult to leave.
I can hear that whistle blowin'
I see that stationmaster, too
If there's a poor boy on the street
Then let him have my seat
'Cause tonight I'll be staying here with you.
It's been covered by Jeff Beck and Tina Turner too!
