@twiggslax i don't remember if he did this particular time, but he's gotten a lot better at this game since!!! he usually uses his two front paws to drag it to more shallow water and then sticks his face in to pick it up! he will do this for ages. we usually use rocks now, they don't get so lost in the sand and he can feel them better with his feet... and we can use the same rock for hours, he just keeps bringing it back!

I have a weimaraner who did the same thing but she found a dead fish then dropped it in the water and couldn't find it again. But she was sticking her head completely underwater to find it because you couldn't see through the water like you can here. She never found it but she spent a good half hour trying to. A couple weeks later I found a chew toy that was a fish and about the same size and she loved that toy. Then we got a schnauzer puppy who destroyed it and she hasn't liked a toy since.

@jamielg09 aw... thats sad! i hope you have been able to find her a new fish!! Chase hasn't caught any fish yet, but a crab did latch on to his lips once... it let go as soon as he started yelping! but it didn't deter him from getting back to his rock! hahaha

@kirstybeckwith1 we started him in the water as a puppy... and at first he would only get his paws wet, but we used a lot of treats. he doesn't like being far away from us so we would walk out far into the water and he'd whine for a bit and then he would swim out to us. now he goes in on his own

awww my weim does the same thing! At our cabin, she has this ball that floats, and she'll "dig" for it in the water for hours. But this ball also has a hole in it, so after a while it'll sink and she'll be so lost without it. She'll just stare into the water, whine, and do what your weim did until we get it for her, squeeze the water out, and then she'll be at it again.

Also, she loves dropping the ball off of the dock and letting it float away. She likes to watch us retrieve it for her...

That's so funny! We have two weimies. One, Gretchen, loves to dive. She does what was described by someone else, she feels rocks with her feet and dives in head first and digs out the stone and brings it to us. It's awesome to hear of another weimie doing that. We thought it was so odd, I guess not!
