See, I first read the title as 'Tourist killing' chimps?'. Needless to say I am bitterly dissapointed.
Watching a group of chimps killing a stupid tourist would have been great.
Instead I see that said tourist is making the poor things ill =(

There is a form of simian AIDS but it is not fatal to them. ITs is very likely AIDS came from eating chimp meat with the virus.

Our body (and those of animals) build up immunities to diseases found in our environment. This is common knowledge. A wee bit of brain power would allow you to realize that it would be the tourists (bringing in diseases the locals and chimps immune systems aren't used to).
Exhibit A: The Europeans carried Small Pox to the America's nearly killing many natives.
Exhibit B: We have to get vaccinated when we travel internationally.
