They chose him because Kerry Washington's character wanted a healthy baby and didn't trust Sperm Banks actually wanted to get prego. So she went to him, because she knew he was healthy and make a healthy baby. And Kerry Washington's character is Bisexual but tries to play off like she's lesbian. She wanted some Dick, she just used all of that as an excuse.
As for the others they probably just wanted a more natural pregnancy, didn't want to deal with paper work or in a bad position to do so.

All of Spike's movies seems to go over Black folks heads. Why do lesbians want babies anyway? And with that notion...she can either adopt, go to a sperm bank or pay for one like the chicks did in this movie...OR (damn) simply get married to a man, make babies & go sit down somewhere. If you don't like penis then leave it alone. Or are these women...confused.

Kerry was soo sexy and IN control and fierce. I just feel she is a great all around actress I want her to be my friend. I loved her in I love my wife too SHE was REAL alluring in that one

@brianasymone91 I agree, the movie is actually more bisexual than lesbian, etc. No real lesbian would have sex with a man to have a child.
