Commercial from around 1980 for Aspen, an apple-flavored soda that was made by Pepsi from 1978-1982. It was ultimately replaced Apple Slice in 1984. There is a companion commercial to this one featuring the man at the end.
@nikzig777; I was snickering at this as I clicked on the commercial but to be honest I am surprised at how good it looks. I don't think it was sold in Michigan but I do remember when Slice came out and I never liked it because it was way too sugary. I'd try Aspen if I could and it looks good. I like drinks with a good balance and that isn't too sweet.
That's exactly what I want when I'm walking around in the forest in sub-zero temperature, knee-deep in snow and dressed so I don't freeze: an ice-cold beverage.
Nothing comes close to it that is out now. Jones green apple soda has that artificial green apple taste like in a jolly rancher. Aspen was more like 7up in its clean taste with no aftertaste except it had that apple taste that was in perfect balance. It wasnt overly sweet like some of the other apple sodas out now. It was great, I talked to a guy who works at pepsi and unfortunately for us they have no plans to bring it back.
Add it to the list of cool products that disappeared in the 80s
I remember Aspen soda. I was around 12 or 13 when it came out. I thought it was really good but my dad only bought it a few times.I thought the name was unusual so, like the silly kid i was at the time, I use to yell ASPEN out of my bedroom window & watch people looking around wondering what idiot was yelling ASPEN.
Only 493 views. I Googled this and there's some links in sites about this and other bygone products. I sometimes mix apple juice and Sprite, but it's must be heavier than the recipe for Aspen.

Shasta has an apple flavored soda but it don't come close to ASPEN! The guy in the commercial is Patrick Wayne. (John Wayne 's son).

Actually, this commercial came out in 1979. The Aspen soft drink was around for about a year, then it was gone.

The closest thing that comes to Aspen IMO is Jones Soda's Green Apple but try it for yourself,
