Part 1 of a PBS Newshour segment on Afghanistan from March 29, 2001.
Poverty, the Taliban, the oppression of women's rights and Osama Bin Laden are among the topics discussed. It also features an interview with a Taliban roving envoy.
This predates 9/11, of course.
Although interesting, this report merely tows the Bush administration's line on many of these issues and neglects to mention the US government's desire to build multi-billion dollar pipelines across the country for transporting oil and gas from Turkmenistan to the Indian Ocean (which is one of the first things they did after the post 9/11 invasion, conveniently).
It also fails to mention Bush's close ties with the Bin Laden family and the fact that the US Government actually supported the Taliban at one time.

Can you please upload the PBS Newshoutr funding credits from 2000, 2001, and 2002?
