Taking the story of Adam and Eve literally creates tremendous scientific and cultural issues for society. However, reading it is a MYTH allows us to find new and meaningful interpretations that can be better applied to our lives. There is much beneath the surface of this story, and that is precisely the nature of myth. By myth, I dont mean a lie, or something thats false that holds no value. Myths are stories that reveal fundamental realities and insights about human nature, as a particular society perceives them.

In this video, I attempt to give some background to the story of Adam & Eve, focusing on most of chapter 3 of genesis. I attempt to take into consideration the original Hebrew as well as common themes running through the narrative. This is the second part in a three part series... or maybe four. Part 3 will look at the expulsion from Eden and the story of Cain and Abel.

PLEASE NOTE: although much of this material is taken from serious sources in the study of biblical literature, I have paraphrased much of its meaning in order to hopefully make it intelligible to everyone. If any of what I have said offends you or you disagree with, PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT! Afterall, the purpose of this myth has always been for us to engage with it and to create dialogue.

  • God gave Adam sufficient knowledge to know what death is. Just as he gave him sufficient knowledge to know a language to communicate. Also he knew the meaning of words for he named all the animals and named his wife Eve The mother of all living. Also he had knowledge on gardening or farming. Plus In the first part of Genesis God says he created male and female and blessed them to multiply So with that I will think Adam was a male from the start and did not become a man after God created Eve

  • that's just like woman hardheaded ,she ate the fruit anyway

  • I meen they

  • they didn't care the were naked realy

  • Where Adam and Eve,i see two red people that were never thier we no you lie still.lol you so funny

  • Lets say: Adam signifies the heavenly spirit of Adam, and Eve His human soul. For in some passages in the Holy Books where women are mentioned, they represent the soul of man. The tree of good and evil signifies the human world; for the spiritual and divine world is purely good and absolutely luminous, but in the human world light and darkness, good and evil, exist as opposite conditions. The meaning of the serpent is attachment to the human world.........

  • @gibsongold1970 Are you fucking stupid? Animals attack humans because of the"Fall"? Or perhaps animals attack humans because of the instinctual reaction from fear. The story of Adam and Eve is not only completely fictitious, but it's also the most useless work of fiction ever made up. Go read a fucking history and science book you moron. Or show us some proof of this that you claim as truth.

  • i find this story extremely interesting, to me, its my favorite in the bible. and all i can find about them online is children sunday school stories! i also found it interesting on supernatural the show that they depict Eve as being the 'mother of all' yet, she is the mother of all monsters on the show, not EVERYONE. and that would be incorrect. because gaia would be the mother of all monsters because in greek mythology she is evil, eve is actually the good mother of all living.
