Across the nation, the available healthcare interpreter training curricula emphasizes the teaching of standards of practice, interpreting protocols, cultural sensitivity, and medical terminology. Following this model, training participants generally increase their knowledge about how an interpreter should behave professionally but few demonstrate an increase in their ability to actually interpret. Both Tatiana, Vizcaino-Stewart and Marilyn Mochel, RN present on instructional strategies to further develop the professional language fluency of training participants.
