  • This almost makes me wonder if she took the wrong road with the bel canto school. I always wondered why she sounded plummy later in life. Does anyone else think she sounds in her absolute element here?

  • Stunning! Kubelik is the most lyrical of all Wagnerians, the orchestra is so beautiful-sounding. And THEN he has the best cast imaginable--wow.

  • This is beautiful!!!

  • RIP Joan Sutherland

  • A very beautiful performance from all 5. But to have voices of the beauty and caliber of Sutherland and Vickers singing this music is a rare treat. Even the greatest German sopranos don't ride that phrase up to the final Bb with such ease and amplitude.

  • Magical. Let's hope the entire recording will be made available soon.

  • @Homoclassicus If I'm not mistaken, this was a studio shot of her as Donna Anna.

  • That's a beautiful photo. Do you know which role Sutherland was in when they took that photo?

  • Grandiose! Thanks for sharing.

  • Grandissima anche in Wagner!
