Super Metroid 100% Tool-Assisted Speedrun pt. 7

I did not make this. All I did was convert this into a format suitable for uploading to YouTube. All credit for playing this goes to JXQ.

This is one of the best TASes I've seen so far. Even knowing it's a TAS I'm still absolutely amazed by some of the tricks in here. Unfortunately 30 fps is insufficient to capture the awesomeness of the run or the game itself. Not a fan of splitting videos either.

The final time says 37 minutes even though the real time is much longer because the game clock stops completely during door transitions & item acquisition. Also, the intro and final sequence are not included in that time. Finally, it's actually 37:54, it doesn't get rounded up.

Why does the game say "Clear time 00:37", when the run is obviously over an hour long?

The in-game timer doesn't run during door transitions and item acquisition, which account for a good 40% of the total real-time.

That's pretty neat, I might try that next time I do one of these. Thanks for the insight, I pretty much just resigned myself to getting FPS-sniped there :P

Too bad this TAS will probably be obsoleted soon, now that moozoh has found a way to skip Bomb Torizo in NTSC. But, that's what makes this game so great, it's still being broken to this day.
