Examine the life and basketball career of Hakeem Olajuwon. Touch on Olajuwon's Nigerian heritage and then move on to his recruitment and eventual signing to play basketball at the University of Houston. Olajuwon was an unusual recruit in that he had hardly ever played basketball until he reached college, but being over 7 feet tall helped him eventually become one of the best centers to ever play the college game. After college, Olajuwon was drafted into the NBA, spending his career with the Houston Rockets, winning two championships and several personal awards.

  • SMH@DrePeezy415 ....You Jordan loons never stop trolling with your MJ propoganda. Maybe Hakeem didn't score as much as MJ because he was leading in shotblocking and rebounding in addition to scoring and steals. That's nearly every year of his Rocket career leading in every category except passing. I never saw the so-called GOAT with the ability to do all that for his Bulls team in even one year in his career. Jordan was a better SG than Hakeem, and Hakeem was a better C than MJ. Nuff said.

  • @jeroel7 not saying that hakeem was shit, dude was a monster but didnt have the same impact, again i dont matter if mj had pippen, they still had to put in the work. hakeem did have a good supporting cast, u cant win a championship with just one person so he didnt single handedly do it all, look at A.I. nd lebron they were a one man team who were in tha finals and what happened? oh yea they lost plus hakeem team was way better then what they had. no excuse mj was just better then hakeem

  • @jeroel7 tha difference between mj and hakeem is that mj had a more of a impact then hakeem did and he was a global icon, when u go around tha world nd say basketball first thing that pops into there head is mj, shit when i went to mexico there only answer to basketball was mj, plus mj had way more points then him which proves he is a better scorer, cmon most of tha people who are on tha top 5 in scoring are big men besides mj, and kobe who is catching up.

  • @jeroel7 damn bro lay off hakeem's sack it's not good for you, so what if mj had pippen? look at malone nd stockton, look at magic and worthy, payton nd kemp which are future hall of famers, your acting mj was tha only one. nd eventually hakeem even had barkley and drexler on tha same team nd had pippen at one point but didnt win shit, mj could of probably won a whole decade of championships if he wouldnt of retired, he would have a better chance then hakeem

  • @DrePeezy415 stop sucking MJ'S BALLS,he played his prime with another hall of famer in his prime,PIP-also had the greatest rebounder in the nba his last 3 titles...Dream is the only player in history to lead a team to back to back titles w/out any all star teamates-Clyde wasn't an all star in '95-didn't play great until he joined Dream mid season, give both players equal support and you've probably got equal titles-to say Dream wasn't as hungry as MJ IS SIMPLY RETARDED ON YOUR PART

  • Get off hakeem nuts! Mj was greater then Hakeem! Unlike Hakeem mj never lost a finals series, nd it doesn't matter if mj had pippen nd rodman, it's a team sport! Look at tha heat, 2 future hall of famers and a all star but they still didn't win even with great individual players because they didn't play as a team. Hakeem didn't have a good support? Horry brought u perimeter shooting nd defense nd cassel and kenny smith who were play makers? Yeah Hakeem just didn't have the same hunger to win as

  • I suddenly thought of Kirby Puckett, may he rest in peace, when I saw that block on Starks in game 6 of the 1994 Finals.. Kirby, crashing into the wall to rob the Braves of a run, then sending his team to game 7 with a HR of his own... Great players, playing great when it matters..

  • ppl need to calm down in this thread and be more humble like Hakeem. :) chill out homies. :) they r all great players and cannot be compared to each other since they led different types of careers.

  • No other player in NBA history won their 1st Title without another legendary HOF teammate on their team before. Closest Dream had before 93 was Sampson. Dream was a true team lifter.

  • Stupid Bulls fanboys keep bitching that Hakeem wouldnMt stand a chance againtst the Bulls. We swept several season series with them and swept the Magic in 95 who Jordan couldn't get past. And hell yeah Jordan had 3 other HOFers on his team pippen Rodman and Coach jackson, Hakeem is so far the only HOF on the 94 Rockets team and just Drexler and him in 95.
