((Link to Full Playlist Below)) - In the Summer of 1946, the production team and programming network involved with the "Superman" serial radio drama dedicated a number of storylines dedicated to addressing the evils & ills of racism and other forms of bigotry. Most notable was the storyline which took a direct shot at the "Ku Klux Klan" (modified in the program as bearing the name, "The Clan of the Fiery Cross"), a storyline inspired by an idea proposed to the writers of the program by Stetson Kennedy, who had infiltrated the Klan and revealed a number of their secrets in an attempt to expose & embarrass them. Though weak & cautious by today's standards, the "Klan" storyline in the "Superman" radio program proved an important milestone in radio history.

Stetson Kennedy died yesterday (27 August 2011) in a Florida hospice at age 94.
