  • tis a sad thing we've let happen to our community. Though without it we would have not even the small amount of wealth that's been brought into the area by mining.

  • @reversecraze - I am from Eastern Kentucky and have been on a mountaintop removal site. The land is contaminated and unstable. The wildlife you speak of was brought in to reintroduce to the area. However, elk do not need vast moonscapes to survive. They used to be native to Eastern KY when the Native Americans were here. As far as the vegetation that is "great" - the grass that is planted is not even native to this area because nothing native will grown on the remains of these mountains.

  • guys this will happen to every mountain with coal in it if you elect todays republicans.................for the sake of the mountains vote democrat................obama isnt perfect but the republicans are for destroying your mountains.

  • @SereneiBE is that the best you can do? Grow the "what" up? Looks like you need to grow up. That way you might be able to express yourself without foul language. The rich as*hol*s blast off the mountain tops, not me. I just do all I can do afterwards, and that is to grow all the pot I can, so that the local sheriff ain't the only one selling pot anymore. What's wrong with that?

  • @SereneiBE I know you! If I stop growing my pot where are you going to buy yours from then? Answer me that will you? You're biting the hand that feeds your habit!

  • @MrFiddlemedo grow the fuck up

  • @MrFiddlemedo you are a disgusting human being.

These mountains took MILLIONS OF YEARS to form and you want to level it just for a few months of energy, or so you can grow your Pot easier? you are ridiculous.

Renewable energy is expected to reach 80% of our energy consumption before 2040, but until then, we will still be stuck with fossil fuels, we need to BAN mountain top removal, put much stricter regulations in how coal is mined, cleaned, and burned. 13k people die annually from coal polut

  • are yall stupid u stop coal from bein mined how u gonna get electric ......wat u gonna sit in the dark...dont think so thats wats wrong with out state now is ppl like yall taken the jobs and money outta here......although im under ground i still support coal all the way COAL MINER FOR LIFE

  • I support mountain top removal because it makes the mountain top flat and that makes it easier for me to grow pot.

  • OMG, SOME THING HAS GOT TO BE DONE, WE ALL NEED TO SPEAK OUT. AND WE ALL SO HAVE OIL, AND N. GAS HERE BUT THEY WILL NOT GO AFTER THAT, THE MOUNTAINS ARE WHAT BRINGS PEOPLE HERE TO SEE THEM, THIS HAS GOT TO STOP. BUT WHERE DO WE START?I,LL DO MY PART IF I ONLY KNEW WHERE TO BEGAIN.

  • @hmbaker1 You need to take into consideration the cuts they make in the mountains for the access roads. Each of these things also has up to 500 gallons of oil in the base. Also, who is going to be responsible for removing the tons and tons of concrete it takes to anchor them once they are no longer useful? Here are just a couple of vdeos - this one's on Vimeo: Flying Eurofox N5083F over the Tehachapi Windmills; this one's on YT: Windmills - Ανεμογεννήτριες , Destroying Life
