No-one's mentioned Acosta! I'm in complete agreement with all that was said regarding the absolutely wonderful Ferri but, in all fairness, she couldn't have done the video of this pdd without Acosta and he is.........well, words fail me. He was, obviously, born with dance in him.

Thanks for posting! Really beautiful...
Comparisons between Ferri and Guillem or Alonso
is like comparing Degas to Picasso and Dali,
all so great but so different!
Ferri is lyrical, romantic, while Guillem has such a perfect technique, Alonso was also a strong technician in her days.
With few exceptions, they have quite different repertoires.

I do not understand why some people have to compare dancers all the time. Alessandra Ferri was and is stille considered as one of the greatest female dancers of our times and justly so. There is not need to qualify Sylvie Guillem as a "robot", which seems at the very least an over-simplification. Only recently she played Manon at La Scala. I was there at the prmeière on January 27th and it was huge and highlyd eserved triumph and people were in tears from Guillem's interpretation.

There were two programs (A and B) of Ferri's gala. Some parts of the A program will be broadcast on TV on 21 September. We will watch R&J, Manon, etc on TV. It is a rumor that Fuji Television which managed this gala taped the B program, and will make it into DVD. I don't know when it will be released.

Are you sure about it coming out on dvd?
That would be a dream .

I agree with you. She dramatizes emotions perfectly. I saw her last performance in Tokyo this month. She played and danced her favorite roles, Juliet, Manon, Margeurite, and Carmen with Bolle. Just beautiful and moving!!! Luckily it will be broadcast and come out on DVD.

Hola Micro, The great Alessandra Ferri retired on june 23,2007 on the stage of the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City in Sir Kenneth MacMillan's production of Romeo and Juliet opposite Roberto Bolle her countryman, with American Ballet Theater company. It was a historic performance.
lale,I think that kind of dramatized perfection was something that made ver similar Alessandra to Alicia Alonso, and maybe she went to Habana some festivals because she felt some affection for the old ballerina. They were very good actreeses with an excellent taste to find the exact poit between the good dance and good acting without overacting or fall in circus-like ballet.

There´s no doubt that she was the best ballerina of the last 30 years. She´s going to retire soon and I can´t see someone like her so beautiful,so graceful and elegant as you said. That´s exactly what she had better than other robots like Sylvie Guillem, but it´s a pitty that everybody is trying to be Sylvie and nobody wants to be just a real artist like Alessandra Ferri.
