The struggles of middle-aged and older Americans during this economic downturn have been well documented. But what about the "millennials," those born during the Reagan-Bush era? Starting your first job search during a recession can result in challenges that last for years, studies say. Need to Know's Alison Stewart spoke with some recent grads who are just starting out — pounding the pavement to land that first job. Need to Know airs Fridays on PBS. So IOW if someone works hard in college and gets a degree (with all the cuts to public universities), they wind up with unmanageable debt and are stuck in peonage as the jobs are outsourced to India (or India is brought in on H-1B visa). Without a degree, still no jobs and Payday loans = peonage. IOW unless you're born rich, you're f***ed if you do and f***ed if you don't. In case the plutocratic idiots have failed to notice, this sort of thing in the past has led to guillotines and revolution.

You're an idiot. Respond with more tough guy maxims about hard work and "personal responsibility," make some excuses while your country turns into a third world shit hole. Most small businesses fail, genius. And the biggest reason they fail is because they're under capitalized. Hey, I'm a banker, why should I give some meat head dipshit with a worthless highschool degree a loan again?

Good for you, I hope everything works out with your respiratory therapy job search. It is a really rewarding career, with plenty of employment opportunities.

I'm at a community college currently, and trying to get a job in respiratory therapy. I'll be working soon, and being able to support myself for two years at a cheaper college while putting money aside to pay back my college in the coming years.Always plan ahead.

They need to stop giving these jobs to foreigners in other countries who have their own problems to deal with. If they don't move here and become nationalized then they should not be getting these jobs just because they offer to work for a lower salary. People here are starving and suffering, we can't afford to go to college and get overlooked because some guy in China, or India wants to work for less in their own country while people here are starving. I don't see the point in doing that.

Thank goodness I went to community college for respiratory therapy. I graduated with no debt and got a job one week after graduating. I feel really bad for the young people in this video, it's got to be rough knowing you spent all that time and money on education to find out you can't get a job.

The reason why the western world have so high unemployment rate among academics is because there are too many of them. Education is a tool for politicans to hide unemployment. Even before the crisis there were many unemployed people with degrees. The main problem is that the western world are drained from jobs which are sent to the third world or rationalized for profit. Look at Greece, It is Chaos. Soon we all go down. It is just a matter of time.

Accordint to Obama shes an unskilled worker. Yet Obama never worked a real job in his life. He is the role model that any person no matter how unskilled can have a job without retraining or reeducation in a fema camp.
