This makes me think that cats can form sort of a pack with you. The cat may have been treating the stuffed animal like prey and was bringing back as a reward to it's superior to have (where in the wild, this maybe be bringing real food back). That's not to say the cat didn't enjoy the act of doing this as well which may have been the primary objective or a secondary objective to simply wanting to provide to it's master.

I love this video and wish my cat did that.
