  • Holy shit ! That slap pop !

  • Morse is a genius. Ever since I saw the Dixie Dregs many, many years ago from 3 feet away, I have been amazed by the musicianship and compositions by this huge talent. Frankly, there was nothing like the sound of Andy West and Morse playing together, and I suppose there never will be again.

  • I saw Steve Morse and his band when I had literally turned 18 and I was away at Cornell for my first year there. He played at this joint called The Haunt. I had already been playing for about 4 years and listened primarily to Vai and Satriani. Never heard of Morse before then. I saw him play Highland Wedding and I was zapped - most incredible performance. Completely changed the way I approached the guitar.

  • Arriba Steve y Dave .. maestros ...

  • Not certain this brings him the most joy, but it certainly makes me happy. I think most would agree, however, that if you were the lead guitar player in one of the most famous R&R bands ever, you wouldn't necessarily want to go back to playing noisy bars for little money. Yes, Steve loves to play but this type of dedication goes beyond just loving to play. His extraordinary work ethic (and of course his talent/genius) are what got him his fame and fortune...

  • Steve does need it for the most basic reason,he LOVES to play live;they all do.Purple makes him the money, but this brings him the most joy.I wish he was in my neck of the woods, I never miss a chance to go see him and the guys.

  • Saw SMB at the Stone Pony in Oct. 09 and I agree that they've gotten " heavier" but also have more stage presence- even though they could stand motionless and the show would still be off the charts. I only wish they had saved some talent for the rest of us. Any rock musician who argues with the musicianship of SMB should.... Well you know.

  • Completely agree on the "heavier" playing. As a matter of fact, it was this song during the solo that was heaviest all night. I pointed this out to Dave and Van after the show. Van asked if I thought it was a good thing and I agreed that it was. Dave remarked by saying he didn't think it was terribly heavy and that he attempted to put some "air" in each of the sections. I agree, but at around 5:32, they go into what I consider the "heavy" section. Live, it was even heavier. Heaven!

  • Saw SMB in Charlotte NC on this tour. I think playing with Purple has changed Steve somewhat in 2 ways: SMB is playing a good bit "heavier" and Steve does more what I would call "rock star isms" with his facial expressions and body movements. Not complaining, but making an observation.

  • I loved this show, from the back. Dave is such a great bassist! I wish that if Steve can't make it, at least Dave could come around more. Thanks for posting!!
