MARILYN (Voiceover Test)

I just got a new USB Microphone for Christmas, so I thought I'd try it out.

This is a rough draft of a story I wrote based on my original character, Marilyn Shine. She's basically my own independent project I've worked on for the past two years on. It mostly consists of sketches and drawings. Sometimes, I writes little poems and revise her "Pilot" story. I hope some day to make this idea into an animated television series.

This is my 1st time doing a voiceover. I do apologize for my nerdy narration XD

Here's the written version in case you have trouble following:

This is the story of Marilyn Shine.
A mischievous girl who's no more than nine.

In the town of Urbington, Marilyn is not your "little angel."She's a feisty, energetic little girl with a lot to say. While interested in scary movies and gothic literature, she has what some may consider a dark look on life. While misjudged by others, she has only a few friends and gets teased and picked on at school.

One day, after a rough time at school, Mary runs off into the forest on the outskirts of town. The forest is known as The Yearning Woods; a dreaded place rumored to be the home of unknown enchantment. As she wanders endlessly through the woods, Mary stumbles upon an old cave with a giant wooden door. Out of curiosity, Marilyn opens the massive door to have a look inside. Inside, out of pure darkness, she sees a towering creature with large, glowing eyes. Deeply terrified by the lingering giant, Mary panics and passes out. When she reawakens, she finds herself being cared for by the giant, and realizes he's not the monster she accused him to be. The giant tells her his name is Meek and that he would not harm her in any manner.

Now acquainted with the gracious giant, Mary learns that Meek's cave acts as a portal which leads from the modern world to a crazed fantasy world known as Golothia. When Marilyn goes through the cave's back entrance, she then sees the world where Meek comes from; where amazing and frightening monsters from dreams and nightmares live in bodacious harmony.

Vowing to keep her new-found discovery a secret, Marilyn now spends her time going on numerous adventures with both her human friends and not-so human friends. They explore new worlds, meet new people and things, and deal with the troubles of everyday life. For Mary, everyday is a new adventure.

I love how you used the beautiful music of Danny Elfman as the background music. ^ ^ As I've said, I LOVE Marilyn Shine and all your works relating to her. I hope that one day this becomes an actual book series or an animated series. It would be so wonderful. You did a good job at the voice over for this. This is a very creative concept, as I've said. :)
