War and Peace. Part 1 of 3. A review of this classic board game.
http://www.historygamer.com/2010/09/12/war-and-peace-board-game/

War and Peace is a grand scale campaign, by Avalon hill. This game charts the course of the Napolenic Wars, through a number of scenarios for a varying number of players and also includes a grand campaign game where you can play through the course of the whole war.

Video 1 covers the game contents, and describes the overall feel of the game play.

It should be noted that this game is also a set of scenarios so that you can play a whole game in a (long) evening session.

  • Listening in to this Avalon Hill playlist as I work on my board game. I was a big Avalon Hill fan in my teens! "Tactics 2" was my first.

  • @NaturalTwentyFilms I remember it, but no one in the club has it (yet) - will keep an eye out with a view to a review later.

  • @HistoryGamerDotCom It was a very simple game for Avalon Hill, if I remember. Very bland board and counters... I loved it!

  • @Imjetta7 agreed. We play face to face deliberately for that reason - the social interaction.

  • @HistoryGamerDotCom So true although i was not even alive during that time i can still see how much things have changed and i see many people who are awkward in public. That is why a board game is so great the interaction, playing with friends and family...nothing beats it. Well diplomacy sounds cool but i don't have a set or even know how to play, but thanks anyway

  • @Imjetta7 Yeah. You've just made me shake my head in amazement. In 1987 when I bought this game, computer games were graphically hopeless, people didn't have mobile phones, the main talking point was still what was on tv last night at work. People actually communicated in person rather than hiding behind profiles. On the plus side these specialist youtube channels are now possible. If you are into Diplomacy I am about to run the first ever diplomacy youtube tourney. see my tourney playlist

  • @HistoryGamerDotCom Got it! Thanks for your time. Man it's crazy how far we have come

  • @Imjetta7 Thanks! I made them back in around 1987 with an old dot matrix printer and a template for my (then) 8-bit computer. I printed in black and white and coloured in after that. ha ha - how primative!

  • Great set of videos! Thank you. I just wanted to know how made all those little boxes for the counters?
