Almighty Zeus...LET'S TURN UP THE JUICE!!! ;o) According to the writings of Plato & Aristotle, the Ancient Greek Dorian Mode was the most "manly" of ALL the ancient Greek musical modes - it was even used to inspire bravery & courage in battle! So, for the VERY first time in 2500 years - the manly sound of the ancient Greek Dorian mode...THRASHED ON AN AXE!!?! !;o)

The images in this video depict the most manly of ALL the ancient Greek conflicts...the Battle of Thermopylae, where in in August, 480 B.C, King Leonidas and the 300 Spartans, who along with 700 Thespians fought to the death against the Might of the entire Persian Army...

The piece I am playing is a genuine fragment of ancient Greek music from the 2nd century CE, by Mesomedes of Crete, called "Hymn to the Muse"...I just hope, for the sake of my poor mortal Soul, that the Muse IS amused by this surreal little "musical" experiment!!!

  • Where did you find the pic on 0:57

  • @JimmyEatWorld55 To create this vile deluge of decibels, I Google image searched anything to do with the Battle of Thermopyla, 300 Spartans etc, recorded some "Thrash Metal" style ACTUAL Ancient Greek Music from the 2nd century AD & stuck the lot together in a hideous Hellish Union with Windows Movie Maker....result? The MOTHER of remixes!! ;o)

  • I didn't know they played metal in ancient greece, wow!

  • ...well, I guess that's why they call it "The Iron Age"?!? ;o)

  • I have no idea why this only has 7 replies on the whole planet.

Hollywood will catch upto you my friend in about 10 years. When period films about 500BC will finally not feature characters with modern British accents and soundtracks of 17th century orchestra compositions.

You've gone and actually remixed an actual melody from 138 BC.

The mother of all remixes right here. No argument.

For the love of god keep it up, you are the only one on the planet doing this, keeping this alive.

  • @missing101 of course they used to play in some manner. U don't know it cause u Know metal music needs electric kithar. If rhythm 'n' blues iz mother of Rock'n'Roll, father to Rock and at last all this has given Metal in the form we know today. If u wanna see and hear a sample of ancient metal (in modern way of course) follow the link youtube.com/watch?v=590jifshSZM

u will see what Greeks were hearing to prepare for battle
