Shooting and showing the Smith & Wesson M & P 40c, which mean the .40 caliber Compact model of the M&P. 16:29.
The crack / split in the slide rail that appears at 5:50 just was not there when I bought the gun. I carefully cleaned and lubed the rails with a Q-tip at least three times before this video, once after shooting a magazine of ammo through it, and a couple of more times to make sure it was truly a well-lubed Ballistol gun now. I think the crack / split occurred or was finalized with the few rounds I fired just prior to filming and during the first shots in this video. I would have definitely noticed this split if it had been there. So would have Paul (ClearTwistedCross). He feels really bad about this, but for no reason. It would take an IQ under about 35 to knowingly sell me a defective gun that I'm anxious to get for videos. :-) He was glad to help me out and had no knowledge the slide rail was about to break on me. Who'd guess that! It broke on MY watch, just as a gun I might sell to somebody could break. That would not be MY fault. We'll see if Smith makes it good; I'll let you all know how it goes. You can see a better pic of the crack on my Facebook page if you click on my profile link.
Also, the small sound glitch at 16:29 is due to the fact that Windows will not upload one single file from the camera if it's over 1.97 gigs in HD. It splits it into two clips, and they don't fuse perfectly.

  • Hey Mr. Hickok45!!! It's been 9 mo's since the S&W M&P40c, slide crack issue. What was the verdict? Did they ever replace the slide? How long did it take them to get the replacement back to you? Did they replace it with a new one or somehow fixed the same 'ol slide?

Mr. Hickok45, I need for you to PLEASE answer at least the "What was the verdict with the M&P40c slide issue?" A whole lot of us VALUE your opinion & we would like to hear yours in respect to customer service & this gun's issues.Tnx

  • @racistathiest666, Yes, there are follow-up videos with the gun.

  • hey , Mr. hickok45, I will be getting my first firearm , in december, I want a .40

    my 2 options are:

    Glock 22

    S&W m&p 40

    which do you recommend ?

  • @el4tobate25 Go with the M&P...you get 3 grip sizes for a custom fit....theres nothing the glock has over the M&P. Go to a gun shop and hold both of them to see what feels good as well.

  • @hickok45 i know that i want to purchase a full size smith and wesson mp 40. i know that i want the thumb safety, but do not know if i want the mag safety or not. any suggestions anyone?

  • Springfield armory hat

  • @prowler725 i have a 40 cal SW99 & love it, its all there for me - in-slide decocker, pin indicator, chamber indicator, 3 way trigger, night sights, and no safety because it isnt needed. but 40 isnt the right caliber for me, im having a lil bit of a hard time controlling it. been trying to improve my grip, but id still be better off switching to 9 or 45. having a hard time deciding which. might try to find mine in a 9mm, more ammo options & cheaper to shoot a lot.

  • @prowler725 yeah, i saw that. i'm just not a real big fan of carrying something with the firing pin or the hammer sprung at all, but i know it's safe with guns like this. it'd be nice if it at least had a firing pin indicator though...

  • @SnowWolfJones It's just as safe as carrying a Glock, the trigger safety will prevent it from firing until you deliberately pull it. But if you want the added peace of mind, the M&P can be ordered with a thumb safety.

  • @hickok45

Can you do a review of the S&W M&P 22? That is a pretty new gun out there a lot of people would like to hear your 2 cents about. I've been seeing a lot of good things about it like the SR22 so I took my chances with the M&P22 because the Ruger SR22 just has a bit too cheap of a look to me and looks too small.

  • the safety is dont put your finger on the trigger until you are ready to fire it. it wont shot unless you pull it ;)

  • Sir what grip is that

  • Nice shootn Tex!!!

  • no firing pin indicator, no decocker, no thumb safety. ok so what about a concealed carrier with a habit of carrying 'hot', how is that safe with this gun, which only has a trigger safety?
