How about re-uploading this gem in its correct 4:3 (Academy) ratio?

Stretching these two beauties to fill a 16:9 area makes them appear rather obese which, as we all know, is far from the truth.

This was one of my nana's favourite films...she loved Alice Faye!

Alice Faye had been to Hawaii in real life a few years earlier while on her honeymoon with her first husband, Tony Martin.

Thank you, tree40shot for posting this! I saw "Tin Pan Alley" on TV when I was about nine and fell in love with Alice Faye <3.  She's my "all-time" fave :) This is the only movie she made with Betty Grable and it is still one of my favorites!

In the context of the movie it's a wonderful number!! "Tin Pan Alley" is about two down on their luck songwriters, pre WWI. Throughout the film, we're "entertained" with different versions of this one song that they've yet to find the right lyrics for! At the end of the movie, when all are reunited after the war, Jack Oakie's character, chilled from a dunk in the ocean, calls out to Alice Faye's character, "K -K -K -Katie!!" ....they finally got their "hit" song!

It was a simpler time :)

Alice and Betty in these hula outfits was the main image used to advertise this film when it was released. It was used in ads, posters, heralds, etc.

They look like two midgets, there is something drastically wrong with the video here. Somone needs to fix this video and make Betty Grable look normal!
