Note: All openings have been judged by their music and visuals, the choices do not reflect the anime they represent.
Ah, a lot of people probably aren't going to agree with my choice for #1 here, despite how good the opening actually is. My top five choices probably threw you all off, which is to be expected. If you wish to refute my top 5, please be civilised about it, key?
#5 - The combination of actual speech with singing is 70% of the reason why 100% Sparking made this list. There are actually 3-4 versions of this opening, sung by 3 different students. Going by the 3 girls featured, Ku Fei, Ayaka and Makie, I'd say it was their VAs singing this time. Plus, look at those visuals. For about half the anime, the opening is very dark, almost sepia. The opening only becomes vibrant in the latter half of the anime, but they remove the mini-speeches (which I thought were great).
#4 - Don't you just love the way certain elements of the opening are synced to the guitar riff for the first half of the song? There's also the fact that, at the very beginning, both the sky and ocean are combined, which works with the bass part. Oh yeah, let's not forget the magnifying/distorting red lines, as well as how Ai's eyes always face the viewer when it the perspective spins around her.
#3 - Let's see, it starts out with "Amazing Grace", then immidiently cuts to an amazing sunrise. Check out that sunlight rise up their bodies, simply amazing! 3:55-4:00 is a great sense of scale, and from 4:04 and onwards where Anemone shows some great emotion, everyone else joins in. The opening is supposed to be very emotional, and they nailed it (I believe we see a wide range of emotion in about 2 seconds). 4:25's view was excellent. 4:39 - Holding the world in their very own hands, now that's some thinking. And the music, using an opera singer as backup? That's some good stuff there. This is the first anime on this list that débuts from episode 40 and only has 10 appearances.
#2 - IMHO, Kanon's opening is much more graceful that Air's (and much, much more so than Clannad's). Although the lighting on this encode may be exagerated (I should've just ripped the DVDs), you firstly become very aware of how bright the opening is when compared to the actual lyrics. Why is this number 2? Well, Air's opening was calming, yes, but not to this extent. 4:48 onwards is very slow, and it's not the song I'm talking about, as you would have noticed. On top of the slowness of the opening, it's the only Visual Novel inspired anime to take on the first person perspective. 5:08 is the best example of a typical VN scene, as it's a rare moment when you actually see part of Yuuichi's body (him as a teenager, not a child, which is obviously from a flashback). Due to the lighting in this encode, you can't see the moving mouths that well, but in actual fact, all the girls are actually either talking to the camera (you, the main character) or looking directly into it. It's a great effect, it makes the opening very intimate.
#1! - Now, why did THIS take the #1 spot? This is an opening that probably won't be very well known, due to the fact that it actually only appears in 7 or so episodes of NANA. Everything about this opening is amazing. The English used is about 99% perfect, the visuals are also extremely well done. The song is both fast and it also sways. 7:01-7:05 speaks for itself really, as does 7:25-7:45. I shouldn't even have to mention the scenes featuring the Black Stones, they also speak for themselves.
Well, I hope to do more top 20/10 lists in the future. ^^

@AlekSensej What about them? They're overly generic.
