Poor, Ramses! My Diabetic Boy needs two insulin injections every day. It's so easy, but some may be a little squeamish.

  • I just found out my Oriental cat, Pablo is diabetic and I was worried about injecting him, I jumped on here and this was the first video I watched about how to do it and I've got to say, you make it look so easy, it's put things in perspective and I know I can do it now. Love your Ramses, Sphinx are such cool cats!

  • @TheLadyCavaliere Thanks! It is really easy to give them shots, because the needle is so tiny that they never feel a thing. We will do anything for our babies, huh? lol! Don't worry, because my Ramses is still alive 'n kickin' 2 years after being diagnosed.

  • oh what a sweet cat..he must be so easy to love! i will be giving my cat his first shot tomorrow morning..i'm really nervous about it, but seeing your vid puts me more at ease about doing it and not wanting to hurt him.

  • @sistabutt70 Don't be nervous, because the needle for insulin is so thin..... they never feel a thing.

  • He is so quiet . How old is he ?

  • He's only 9 years old..... :-( Too young to be afflicated with Diabetes!!

  • Ramses is happy like a puppy! This video was helpful. After 3 weeks, my kitty's diabetes is now in remission, thanks to changing from dry food to a grain-free canned food. I'm glad i bought a glucose test meter, because the combination of low carbs + insulin injections made him hypoglycemic.

  • This is my second diabetic cat and I've found that the area you give the shot in gets sensitive after time. It means the cat disappears at shot time, or Tab does anyway. It obviously hurts. I've been giving the shots in the loose skin around the neck. This video shows me another spot I can go to so the shot doesn't hurt and he can be a happier cat. Ramses' lack of hair showed where loose skin was right away. Thanks!

  • I am curious if you have checked out Dr. Elizabeth Hodgkins' tight regulation protocol. Rather than blind dosing, you test and adjust the dose accordingly. By keeping blood glucose levels in the normal range with diet and insulin, many cats go into remission. I would have never believed it but after 5 weeks, my 12 year old cat no longer required insulin.

  • Good job!

  • @zmelon I doubt he doesn't feel a thing. I've been diabetic for 7 years and the injections, especially that kind of syringe can hurt quite a bit sometimes, even after all these years with a minimum of 4 injections a day. The insulin pens hurt less, but are more expensive. However, it's true that sometimes you don't feel a thing... It all depends on the location and what nerves you hit. :) If you don't believe me, try it yourself - without the insulin of course. :)

  • that cat is ugly! and btw im a diabetic

  • Oh my gosh, I love him! I want a cat like him :)

  • You make it look so easy ! but it makes me suffer to know that even animals have diabeties, not just me and other people... :( aww hes so cute tho

  • aww, look how sweet he is!! I love the way you talk to him....sounds like me with my kitties, haha :) Thanks for posting, this is very helpful.
