The massive earthquake that struck central Chile has now claimed at least a hundred-and-twenty-two lives. Dozens of buildings collapsed and parts of the country are without power, after the deadly 8.8-magnitude quake. Santiago airport is closed, and Chile's president has declared a 'state of catastrophe'. Tsunami warnings have also been issued for the Pacific rim - sirens are being heard in Hawaii to warn of impending tidal waves, while Samoa has evacuated its coast.

Estimado argentino, chile se ha formado gracias a los terremotos, muy por el contrario no estamos desapareciendo si usted estudiara un poco más podría darse cuenta que Chile es producto de la subducción, de hecho el suelo chileno subío 3 metros. I was living on Oahu when this happened and I recall that everyone was just watching and listening to the radio just waiting for news of this tsunami in which thank god it never arrived.

Yes. Thank god there was no tsunami. I live on the island of Maui. I was sleeping over my best friends house cause we had a photo shoot for our senior portrait and we had to cancel. So he had to hit higher ground. And my aunty woke us up like 3:00am. So we went to my aunty's sisters house and we stayed up all morning just watching the news. The water was just coming in fast and going back out and coming back in and getting dirty by the second. but there was no tsunami. Thank you lord jesus!
