WCVB 6PM "NewsCenter 5" open from 6/15/93 with Chet Curtis, Natalie Jacobson, Mike Lynch, and Dick Albert. Preceded by a 11PM NewsCenter 5 "Night File" promo and the closed captioning sponsor info.
There's a specific closing i'm looking for that was usually after the 6:00 news. i think it was a song by yanni, can anyone spot out what it might have been?
Pompous, yes, but at least WCVB can back it up. It had been one of the most decorated, respected and highest-rated news organizations in the country for about 15 years by this point, despite being sold twice in the '80s. Had WHDH not skyrocketed in the ratings with its tabloid news, I think WCVB would still have a pompous image because it's still a quality station. That said, WBZ's skyrocketing numbers from its "organic news" at 11 would have made WCVB turn their pride down a bit by now.
@DontBeTrippin LOVED that tagline! NOTHING like it!

Agreed. Sounds like something someone would compose for the Olympics, not a newscast.

This HAS to be the most pompous news theme ever recorded...

I know..I remebered the BWIS blurb from late 80s/early 90s Chronicle. Dunkin' Donuts, and now Verizon, succeded them in funding.

Is it weird that the part that I recall the fondest is "Closed Caption funding provided by Bull Worldwide Information Systems"?
There's something about that intro that makes the news seem like something dynamic.
