  • @VinceLuciano Gavanelli,Guelfi (giovane),Skovhus,Leiferkus,Hampson etc. -voci orrende,brutte.

  • @LibbySingsMezzo Hampson = tenore corto

  • @LibbySingsMezzo

    yeah since

Most opera singers have amazing ranges and can hit much lower and much higher notes than they usually sing but they are not comfortable in some ranges and sound much strogner adn much better in their main range.

Me for example have very powerful middle-low notes but my upper and lowest doesnt sound as much but i can sing them however im no operasinger ;)

  • The difference between tenor and baritone - or soprano and mezzo - is not how high of a note you can sing. It's more a question of vocal sound and tessitura. I can sing F, G A, B, but not for any length of time. A tenor or soprano role will generally have a lot more singing in that range than will a baritone or mezzo role. Mr. Hampson is most definitely a baritone, one who can sing higher than average, perhaps, but a baritone for sure, and one of my favorites for a long time!

  • @browbrandon a tenor couldn't get low enough. even a heldentenor or dramatic tenor would not be able to hit the low Gs that firmly belong in a baritone role. Perhaps there have been baritones who sung As but a B? No way. You're a heldentenor if you can sing a B. At least, you should be one.

  • Is this recording for sale anywhere? Can't find it.

  • @browbrandon Totally agree with you, tenors are tenors and baritons are baritons..

I'm a bariton and I can sing high b and sometimes high c in vocalization but singing is another thing!

  • tenors don't sing baritone roles if they're having a rough day and don't feel like singing high b flats. singers settle into different areas of the voice. Thomas Hampson is without a question a high baritone.
