This is the captioned/subtitled version of http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/asylums/

In "The New Asylums," FRONTLINE goes deep inside Ohio's state prison system to explore the complex and growing issue of mentally ill prisoners. With unprecedented access to prison therapy sessions, mental health treatment meetings, crisis wards, and prison disciplinary tribunals, the film provides a poignant and disturbing portrait of the new reality for the mentally ill.

  • think of how mutch moneys you would save if u just spend $1 on a bullet insted of $50 on meds...... think about it....... maby help out people that want and nead help........i mean the top mental ppl OC....

  • you might ask me "what would you do? if this people did something to u? i will forgive them enternaliy cuz they r a product of u>

  • very sadened by c in this and where is the moral for humanity or believe "in gun and god "all humans r uncivilized and retarded so don't fake it by lining a border, race, religion or other hypocrite excuse .

  • This method will not work. It is sad that this is true but it is. These people are mentally ill and need help not in this way but another. I don't know what it is, but will soon find an answer.

  • This is sick I feel like throwing up.

  • @gunskill20 you are very ignorant

  • This is so fucked up, "at the end of the day, this isn't a mental institution, its to keep the people safe" "if they dont comply, then at the end if the day they will whether they like it or not"

  • It's a real shame that there is no one out there that really cares for these people and trys to imagine what it is like to be them. They kinda treat them like they're not even human.. and they keep referring to this "Medicine". I don't think drugging them up and altering their perception of reality even more will help at all. Is thorazine still commonly used? "Antipsychotics are among the biggest selling and most profitable of all drugs, generating $22 billion in global sales in 2008"

  • 11:44. alot of the mentally ill inmates in here you do have to use more forc.. uh uh i mean you do have to use force on them.

  • @truthsoldier7 Seriously! It can't cost much more to put them in proper treatment. Imprisonment costs $30,000-$55,000 per inmate!
