For digital signals, wouldn't it just be easier to record digital data on a standard VHS tape like Hi-Fi Stereo was recorded? With an analog track as backup (to ensure backward compatability)?
I own one of these players . I Just fixed it , it was giving me problems . Its a simple fix the ground wire one the video head will come lose after time to cause you problems or digital like blocks in the picture like a dirty head its not lose wire , the black one use a screwdriver and tighten it up
It's a shame that this never caught on.

This has to be better than Blu-Ray.

D-VHS tapes use 1s and 0s, right?

Really? How much bandwidth does a digital video signal take?

@Celiecinema1 There's not enough bandwidth to do that. Digital audio is possible, however. See the PCM1610 processor from Sony.
