Where do you live that the choice of ammunition would even come out in court, let alone actually being charged with a crime and sent to court?
If you don't have a castle doctrine law, then you are already fucked, no matter what you use. Use some JHP "defence" ammo and it's "Jury, this ammo is designed to kill! It is hollow point, it is designed to cause the most damage possible!! NATO, the UN, the Vatican, etc, etc, ban this deadly ammo from warfare!!!"
