If memory serves me right, 'specialist' chefs tend to fare poorly. We've seen an oil specialist, a garlic specialist and later on (in the Morimoto era) a salt specialist and an edo-sushi specialist. They all lost. Pretty badly if I may add.

The guy in the pink jacket said that he tried the herbs alone before trying the soup, and then complained that dish's herb flavor was too strong. =P
