well what this shows is similar to what research into the neural effects of DMT or meditative states show. That we can somehow associate God and the brain. it would be presumtuous to make a claim either way with regards to what exactly that means. believers will point out that it makes perfect sense that god would give us neural hardware to experience him. while those with a more atheist agenda will look at it as a refutation. depends on the goggles you see it through.

Jesus, Muhammed, Buddha all had the same hallucinations and experiences.

Religion is just a part of imagination and experience.

But isn't the fact that a brain disorder can make a Jesus Christ ("I am the son of God!") unnerving? If religious claims can be explained by neurophysiology, psychopathology even, what will be of all the "miracles"?

They said "..one of the strangest of brain disorders." They're only partly right. They have forgotten that it's one of the most common, too.

Why? Both are unusual brain states. It would not be so odd for them to have some overlapping characteristics.

Epilepsy is a medical condition not a spiritual one. It seems to me that if there is an interactive God,(which I don't believe there is) he wouldn't need to resort to allowing A FEW of his children to have what no doubt is seen by religious people a "GREAT" experience! No, he wouldn't need to go about revealing himself via seizures, would he? If he did, he's not all powerful, right?
