Arthur Pettis (whose real name was probably Arthur Petties), was believed to have been from the Jackson, MS. area. He had one session in Memphis, TN. in 1928 under the name of Petties, recording two songs that produced one double-sided record. He had two recording sessions in Chicago, IL. in 1930. One was in July of that year and the other one in October. Between the two sessions, four songs were recorded adding two more 78's to his discography. In a 1960's interview Big Joe Williams was asked he had ever known Petties. He recalled his name from his travels in the Mississippi state in his younger days, and believed that he settled in Chicago. Another excellent under-recorded blues musician that eventually vanished from sight.
