That sounds like a memory leak issue, memory is not freed when it should be. If that's the case, then a program called cacheboost does wonders according to several GTA related sites.

The problem is that after 4 or 5 hours playing the game by the numbers! and begins to have a lot of problems ... rockstar took a flop because the game is not compatible with ATI hopefully solve the problem because it would be a great game
