Except Duran was 38 years old here, and Leonard was only 33!
In the first fight, Leonard COULDN'T box Duran. The man was a killer beast that fight and Leonard admitted to being very intimidated. He admitted in his new autobiography that Duran effectively got inside his psyche and messed him up big time - and on fight night - he didn't want to be in the ring with him!
History continues to see the only fight that REALLY mattered of the trilogy: the BRAWL IN MONTREAL!

@tromboista So hold on..does that mean that Ali is in the same category?? He slugged with Frazier in the first fight, got his ass kicked, and then danced for 12 rounds in the rematch...So I guess Ali is in the same boat then?? lol

@tromboista except he won the second and third fights... because he "danced around". Don't be ignorant, sugar ray leonard was never a slugger and that's why he lost the first fight. Boxing is a sport about style match ups, what you call dancing around us who fight call boxing and utilizing the ring. Since you obviously have no idea what you're talking about you should just go sit in the corner.

Regarding the FACT that Duran stopped when Ray landed good shots.
Just go watch the fight. The funny thing is like some1 said, you fanatic Duran fans
really think that Ray went out and threw a few posses and that made Duran quit.
Look at the fight, Ray was landing good shots prior to Duran giving up.
Even in round 7 when Ray did the most posing he landed some shots.
