Too bad we don't have videos of this or many others Dave did, but maybe not, since when all we have is the audio, we use more of our imaginations to see what we're hearing ... When the Mets won their first Series in 1969 and partying made DVR late and tipsy for a show at the Second Fret in Philly, we almost gave up after an hour plus of waiting, but were rewarded by a long, rollicking set, which ended with "Random Canyon" and a mike knocked over by a bellowing Dave.

This was the first Van Ronk album I ever had,
it kept me busy for hours and days
trying to figure out some of the guitar riffs...
I finally met him in person in the summer of 1980 at the Toronto Folk Festival. He was always a great inspiration to me!

Great version. I didn't know Dave Von Ronk did this tune. I do the Charlie Jordan version in my coffeehouse shows. I never heard anyone else cover it. Shoulda figured DVR did it; he's covered all the coolest shit. Thanx for posting this.
