I re-watched the video and I think your confusion is that at 2:03, the loop just worked is pulled a bit forward on the needle (toward bottom of screen) and perhaps you didn't see it?. You always pick up the loop of the sticth below the one just worked.

Thank you very much! I am learning about these increases. this is very helpful. I have a question - why do you first pick up the 2nd stitch below (1:13 and 1:46) on the right hand needle for the increase, then later on you pick up the 1st stitch below (2:03) on the right hand needle? I thought you always pick up the 2nd stitch below for a left lifted increase. Thanks!
