3) click File, Re-map Midi Ports, and chose the 01v96 as the console. There is a midi ports tab, where you set the midi ports to Yamaha 01v96 port 1. The console and computer must be connected for this to show up. After you open the 01v96 Editor, under the file menu select "System Setup", and set the input and output ports. At this point you should be online. if you have the master panel open there is an online/offline indicator at the top.

2) On the computer, open SM and click File, Setup. On the Modify Workspace tab, add O1v96 to the Workspace. On the MIDI Settings tab, select 01v96-1 on both the Input Ports and Output Ports sides, and click Update Ports. Then click Apply, and then OK to close.

There are 3 different places you need to set the midi ports before the console and computer will talk to each other.
1) on the console press DIO/Setup to get to the Midi/Host screen and set the Special Functions' Studio Manager Port to USB.

Any have any idea why my "midi port" window would only show 1 output port? good old Microsoft GS Wavetable synth. Does not show any of the in/out ports as in the view at 1:14 on the video. Have download all appropriate files drivers etc. Tried on two new laptops and same result both times.

on the DIO SETUP page - under 'Special Functions' tab, select Studio Manager Port 2 ID 1, and then on the computer choose FILE, SYSTEM SETUP, and choose Yamaha Port 2..

I tried following your tutorial. Makes a lot of sense, but when I get to the last part and Synchronization > Re-Synchronize its disabled.
I've set Yamaha USB 1 In and out in 3 places:
1) The mixing console under DIO/SETUP > Midi/Host
2) Studio Manager
3) 01v96 Editor
And I still get the syncronize disabled. Any suggestions?
