@heavensgems7 The problem with that is that religion is a very private thing. There is no way to know if god, if there is a god, communicates with anybody. The next president could say 'God told me to nuke the middle east', even if he were an atheist trying to sway the Christian population. Also, shall I remind you of all the wars that took place in Europe, France and Spain especially? The Roman Empire collapsed because religion.

@mn8aol Actually, my comment had nothing at all to do with communism. Infact, raising taxes only on the rich is the exact opposite of Georg Hegel or the idea of communism. Communism dictates all citizens are equal; which seems to be the main point republicans are making with their 'all people should be taxed the same' ideal. If anybody's pushing communism with taxes, it's republicans.

@mn8aol No tax increases for the middle and lower classes, hopefully. The rich however, do need to pay more. The deficit/debt problem could be solved if we raised taxes on the rich. Also, not raising the debt ceiling will lead the US into bankruptcy. I agree that debt is an unsustainable way to pay people, but not raising it will destroy the economy. We cannot follow Greece's footsteps, but we also must raise the ceiling. Then the gov. can sell its gold supply, raise taxes on the rich, etc.
