Ban health insurance, it's a gambling tycoon disguised as a regular business. That will lower prices.
Government health subsidies should go to people who actually need it. If a billionaire needs surgery he doesn't need the government to pay for it.
But let's face it, health care needs can surprise an individual and be very expensive. Expecting everyone to just plan for each and every possible eventuality is absurd.
Actually tou are wrong. American health care is one of ther most expensive in the world because surgeons ask for very high wages and the insurance companies cream off a large chunk of the money. They also have so many get out clauses that most Americans aren't properly covered. France has expensive health care too but their service is the best there is. I know where I would sooner live. My state run health care gives me so much freedom to get on with my life, and my work, and this is nice.
@ptolemyauletesXII Can you at least name an example? You can't demand him anything about examples you don't provide. (Also, to argue about costs of the business is faulty, because it ignores the cost of taxation for society, or interest if the government has a deficit)
@ptolemyauletesXII Multiple variables can calculate efficiency. output, Revenue to Cost ratio, Revenue - Cost (unless you don't care about wasting money), Quality of products (Slightly subjective, but a good measure for efficiency), etc. In general, the free market does better. Also, your last statement is an assumption about all things the government does.
@ptolemyauletesXII LOL! Canada is more free market than the united states! htt p://w ww.herit age.org/index/Ranking We only beat Canada in terms of economic freedom on Labor Freedom, Government Spending, and investment freedom (Until now). Also, Canada allowed more financial freedom in 2007, and their monetary freedom is increasing, along with investment freedom! Booms and busts will exist no matter what system you have, so blaming Capitalism is absurd.
@ptolemyauletesXII "[free markets] end up with masses staving on the streets". Define 'masses'. (Look up Socrites Paradox). Also, if in comparison to any other system, capitalism would result in less people starving, what is your argument? Also, knowledge is, at minimum, truth plus belief. Saying 'I feel...' is not an argument, it is a fallacy. Given a government uses the resources of the governed against their will, isn't the government a parasite, therefore, predatorial?
@nivekvb And that will all end soon in bankruptcy.
