In about 3 minutes they will hit the diamond at Alexandria Indiana and in about 20 minutes they will be making a setoff of cars for Muncie, Indiana at Vernon siding on Muncie's west side. Track speed is 49mph on the Frankfort District.
Train #123 (the Georgia Monon) from DeButts to Inman was passing and I was picking. I had all sorts of veggies poked into every pocket and cavity, except my radio was in my shirt pocket. As the Monon cleared and I turned around, Trainmaster Norton had his hands on hips and was glaring at me with a scowl. I calmly summoned one finger, keyed the radio and said " Ga. Monon looks good by Sugar Valley." Mr. Norton busted out laughing and said, " Get your ass back on that train! " Nutty Times !

OK CenralRail, You're up for a story. As an SR brakeman on the Ga. Division in the late summer of 1978, I was on the (Ga.)North Local and sitting in a siding at Sugar Valley. An old retired railroader lived beside the track and had a great garden. He knew my conductor well, and before you knew it, he invited all of us down to pick whatever we could carry. Now back then they were very strict about being on the ground watching trains by if you were sitting in a siding. Meanwhile, ....(continued)
