It has been a while since the last video. Like many DBP2009 hopefuls, I'm deep in to crunch programming, play testing and general ripping out of hair. This is a recording of such a playtest that produce a list of glitches as long as my arm. That said, it does demonstrate additional features since the last video. Namely: In game music, sound effects (pretty much done), Auroras (yet to vary by planet), Level Management (Behind the scenes, but makes sure there a good stream of invaders relative to difficulty and level (linear progression), Terraforming pod deployment (Another big ass spaceship in the sky), Smart bombs and a demo of how you can sacrifice pods to warp levels (and gain the bonus). Enjoy, I think I should just about get this one over the line for the DBP competition deadline!

  • New video is up :)

  • Ah, now that you tell me I can see it. Look forward to the new vid!

  • Thanks for the kind words. The shield effect is the plasma shader code I emailed you some months ago. I just finished the DBP2009 version, so new video up soon and I can now start working on XBLIG version / get it up for peer review.

  • Just awesome. Still the best looking thing out there, and getting better looking every time. Love the colors.. looks like its straight out of 1967 Star Trek set designer's head. Very nice shield effect (you must share that btw..) I finally have an Xbox, so when this goes up for sale, you'll get at least one!

  • Thanks for the kind words .... It takes a lot of hard work and I have to say there are a lot of gameplay glitches which (I'm afraid to say) many won't see passed. Uses a lot of procedurally generated content (levels, colours, textures, etc). Unfortanately, you never quite know where a rock or an alien is going to appear ... You get some funnies when one is inside the other. Still, it's coming along and is one of my best XNA efforts date (I guess some things are starting to sink in!).

  • Your game keeps looking better and better!.. I wish I could say I was anywhere near as far along *grrr*. :)
