I First heard this song on WMMR Radio in the 70's and I never for got it..something like when you never forget where you were and what you were doing when Kennedy was shot or 911.. Amazing power in this song.

@JoggynSmyler- My sentiments are much like Joggyn Smyler's in that I also first heard this song, Thunder in the Morning, on the Philadelphia radio station WMMR in the 1970's and had looked for it for ages. It took help from my 20 yr old son to get to this on youTube. Thanks so much for bringing it to Essra fans from days gone by. You made my day.

Great song from a cool artist. Essra, in the early days, was said to believe herself an influence on Laura Nyro and Joni Mitchell. Frankly, I doubt she influenced the former. Laura's influences were abstractions. But I think she did influence Joni. Something rather direct must have pushed Joni past the tinny, uptight sound of her first 2 albums and get her to groove. If you listen to "Thunder in the Morning" and "Help Me" you can hear similarities.
