Whenever I see that "Group W" in that upper left hand corner of the screen I always think of Alice's Restaurant: "Kid....I want you to go over and sit on that bench that says Group W....now, kid!"

I remember when this version of the National Anthem aired on WBOC-TV 16 in Salisbury, MD; however, they carried the full version, where the SSB was actually played twice.
Nonetheless, I haven't seen this in years; thank you for posting.

When did they normally sign-off? And did they broadcast the testcard all night long?

In that 1987 era they seemed to take up the overnite hours with replays of shows like 'People Are Talking', or on Saturday overnites, ran old movies from old-print films.
But after Sunday mid-nights, early into Mondays, they ran the TPs, STL slides and periodic ID statements until about 6 a.m., when they signed-on again.

I don't know when they first began using it, but I first noticed it in 1985. And this recording is from 1987.
