I know the pilot of this particular SD3-30, he's a friend of our family, just spoke with him a few months ago. Spent a lot of time at KPOU when I was a kid - got a tour of the cockpit from the pilot during a cub scout field trip (his son and I were in the same troop).
Nice catch of the Cessna SkyMaster too! These were my two favorite planes to see fly over while I was growing up in Poughkeepsie!
I plan to scratch-build a 1:10 scale R/C model of N51DD in the near future.
wow! What a great throwback video - and awesome quality too!
I find it a bit ironic to be watching this knowing I wouldn't be born for another 5 years, and yet now I'm a flight instructor at Dutchess Airport. Time flies I guess. (Sorry for the pun lol)
PS - I remember my dad always used to tell me about Command Airways and how he'd travel down to JFK to connect flights for business trips all the time when they were in their "golden days."
WOW Command airways, I worked for them for 15 years. Didnt see the tail # but its funny to see them all most new... DD51? DD55? DD56? What a aircraft .. Thanks for the flash back in time
I think they were a launch customer for the ATR-42
