Ed Henry on John McCain
"The Situation Room" 10/09/08
Commentary
TRANSCRIPT:
AUDIENCE MEMBER: Im mad. Im really mad. And whats gonna surprise ya is its not the economy. Its the socialist taking over our country.
ED HENRY: At a dramatic town hall in Wisconsin, John McCain was confronted by Republican voters wondering how he can be losing to Barack Obama. And urging McCain to get tougher with his opponent.
AUDIENCE MEMBER: And were all wondering, why that Obama is where hes at. How he got here. I mean everybody in this room is stunned that were in this position.
HENRY: The questioner angrily suggested that the media is giving Obama a pass on questions about his ties to former-terrorist, Bill Ayers, sparking wild applause from the raucous crowd.
JOHN MCCAIN: The point, Senator Obama said he was just a guy in the neighborhood. We know thats not true. We need to know the full extent of the relationship because of whether Senator Obama is telling the truth to the American people or not.
[]
SARAH PALIN: I am like you, and I wonder too when will the questions be asked, and when will we get the answers?
HENRY: But another voter pointedly urged McCain to stand up to Obama.
AUDIENCE MEMBER: It is absolutely vital that you take it to Obama, that you hit him where it hits, as a softball. We have the Reverend Wright, we have Flager, we have all of these shady characters that have surrounded him. I am begging you, sir. I am begging you. Take it to him. [John McCain hugs commenter]

Man I am so glad O'bama won and we have someone that is intelligent who knows how to work with both sides of the isle to get things done. This man has probably done more for the economy as a president elect that Bushie has done since he has been in office. In fact, I can't even tell he is a lame duck because he is doing what he always does. Absolutely nothing. So, keep talking about Ayers and the media and Rev Wright. Meantime Obama will get shit done.

McCain on financial crisis: Look at 1989. He & 4 other senators were accused of corruption in the Savings & Loan crisis. They improperly intervened with federal regulators who were investigating Charles H.Keating Jr, head of Lincoln Savings & Loan, which defrauded 23,000 people, wiped out many elderlys life savings & finally collapsed, costing the US govt. over $3 billion. Keating gave those senators $1.3 million; McCain got the most. The Senate Ethics Committee rebuked him for poor judgment.

Obama is not a socialist or even a Muslim. It bothers me when McCain's supporters keep saying that. It's funny how people will listen more to gossip than pay attention to the real facts. As for McCain, I am suprised he has taken the low road. I have always like him, but have rather displeased lately.

But your ok with the McCain campaign calling Obama a muslim when it has been proven time and time again that he is not, comparing him with Bin Laden just because of his name. Now if that's not racist, what would you call it? I'll give you the benefit of the doubt if you can give an honest answer.

first of all treel you cant be racist against a whit guy if you too are white. I have a news flash for you. If every black man and woman in this country united to vote for Obama, It would not be enough to win him an election. Not all of us who are voting for him are black, in fact the majority of Obama supporters are White. How does that feel? and I don't hear any Obama supporters or anyone in Obama's campaign calling McCain a Cracker, or White trash etc... Do you?

Sarah Palin said she was all for education. But her campaign pushes these socialism, communism, and even Marxism, attacks, mixing them all in one big pot, as if they're all the same. And such attacks only work when the general populace remains ignorant of how government works.
Good lord, I don't understand the whining about socialism when the US has had such programs already. Indeed, the people whining the most are those the programs help the most. Insanity.
