Many children born with a debilitating condition called spina bifida can't even walk. Josh Koster, however, is no ordinary kid. The 12 year-old Koster, who successfully underwent four surgeries in one day when he was three years old, is one of the fastest young swimmers in the entire Valley. His remarkable ascent began three years ago under the tutelage of NextLevel Swim Camp director David Lombardi, then the coach of the Visalia Waves. Koster would go on to lead his Waves 9-10 and then 11-12 boys team to three straight Valley titles and an obliteration of the Visalia city record in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 2008. He now swims year-round with TNT. The story of this NextLevel Swim Camp participant is truly remarkable. Please enjoy Beating the Odds, a documentary about Koster produced by Lombardi in December 2008.
