My favorite recording is Oistrakh and Kyung Wha Chung, there are several others worth mentioning like Repin, Perlman and a few more I forgot to mention.

This recording is a little over 11 minutes so I had to chop it into two pieces, the first video features the first section with the end cut off, the second video cuts part of the beginning.

This was ripped from a 2 cd set called "Zino Francescatti Great Violin Concertos" and was recorded Nov 5 1950 with The Philadelphia PO and Eugene Ormandy conducting.

I was a little suprised to see this out of print but this upload is to display even more of the unique tone of Mr Zino Francescatti, whose family as I understand are a decendant of the only pupil Paganini ever had. I found a picture of his violin, the Hart Strad and included that in the series of photos used for this video. I understand Salvatore Accardo now owns this violin so in a few days I will upload Mr Accardo playing Vivaldi more then likely using the same violin you hear on this recording.

I also included a photo of Francescatti with a very young Michael Rabin, I heard someone say Francescatti was recording some Paganini and he said you should hear Rabin play the Caprices and thats why Rabin's caprices were recorded at an early age.

Alot of people also rave about his recording of the Paganini Concerto but I think the best things Francescatti recorded were Beethoven and Lalo Concertos, I believe there is a video you can get of him playing the Beethoven Concerto still?

I have uploaded rare out of print and unreleased recordings that are difficult to find, I hope you like them.

Since they are so difficult to find no one should mind me uploading them, if you have issues with me uploading them please send me a message and I will remove them.

  • OH I used to have this album..it is FANTASTIC! Any chance you can upload the Saint-Saens? I think it is one of the best performances of the Rondo and Caprissioso! I wish they would make this into a CD! Thanks for uploading..this IS a treasure!

  • I really like francescatti's sound.his sound is so brilliant and has a mark, you can distinguish him with the first note he plays.i really like to hear his interpretation of beethoven's concerto

  • the beethoven recording is what i like most by him and its still in print so i wont upload it but its easy to find and doesnt cost much, i think there is a video of him playing the beethoven also

  • I have heard Francescatti live... He was one of the most moving and sensible violinists I have ever heard... And he soude exactly like in the recordings.... Just BEAUTIFULL! Thank you for posting!

  • This version of Francescatti's always gave me chills - gooseflesh. There is something supernatural, phantasmic here. This is Louvian.

  • hermosa version de Zino Francescatti , Tedi Pavparami estudio con Francescatti y es notorio ver como su version lleva este sello inclusive detalles como la postura de la mano derecha al tomar el arco

  • Absolutely beautiful. Ranks with Khachaturian's Adagio from Spartacus!

  • as many have already said - like painting such a rich palette of colour and texxture. the ear is forever caught by another subtle nuance - -thanks so much for this

  • I dont have words to say how magnificent this is

  • Yes, the CD has been released... 2 discs... I own it... Perhaps my favorite in my collection.

It includes his Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Saint-Saens, Mendelssohn, Bruch, and Chausson Poeme. AMAZING interpretations. He also edited fingerings and bowings for publishers. Very personal stuff. Check it out if you're playing any of it.
