My employer is a dealer for Presonus. I got one at cost, but even at retail price this thing has a ridiculous amount of capability, and the head room on the amps is awesome, especially if you are using good quality mics. I didn't realize how much CRAP I was sending to my amps until I got this mixer.

I've owned this console for a few years now. I don't understand why so many people want videos on "how to use it". This is by far the easiest digital console I have ever used. Manuals are often overlooked for products, but the manual for this is stellar as well. I've seen the lack of motorized faders, but IMO the "fader locate" function is far superior because the motorized faders are always the first thing to break.

Are there any differences between the 16.4.2 and the 24.4.2, other than the obvious difference in the number of channels?

all those functions and no pad on each input.

@fradily - 1) Match the sensitivity. If you have sub-amps, you must have a x-over. It might have a "sense" capability that can match the sensitivity for you if wired correctly. When the sensitivity is matched, it is still important to recognize that a properly set up system can still thermal the sub-amps. The mix engineer (you) must not over-work the subs. In a typical live scenario, you start by rolling the high-pass filter up to 100 on every channel except kick drum and bass instruments.

@SourceDistributionTV Finally I already got Studio Live 24.4.2, awesome mixer, you could easily notice the diff in headroom and clarity from my old mixer. The only thing concerns me is that it frequenlty trip my sub amps, Im using aux1 for my lows, maybe i need to match the sensitivity of the amps with the output of my presonus as advised.. any comment? Thanks

@Kritter1musicFuneral Hi - just Google 'how to use a mixing desk' and read through the results. The concepts in the StudioLive are common to all mixing desks, so any literature you can find about mixing desks will apply to this too. Then all you have to do is read the manual to find out how the StudioLive does that particular thing. Let us know how you're getting on!

Bought it - Got a UK ex-demo unit for good money.
still waiting to get a chance to use it live now - should be next week with a bit of luck!
Very pleased with it so far, having only used it at home so far with capture - the firewire return feature on each channel is incredible. Really well thought out.
I do very much miss my moto-faders though form my previous desks
Cheers Guys!
Jonny
I think most of the things for this mixer are great but what the headroom. Hows the headroom of this 24.4.2. Some one who owns these that you need to set the gain around 12 to 1 o'clock before you will be satisfied about the level of its sounds, unlike other analog branded console10 o'clock setting for each channel gain is just enough..

@fradily StudioLive's are all running a 32 bit floating point summing engine, so have very high headroom.

would you recommend this for a church?

@BenjaminRecinos101 Absolutely - StudioLive's have been extremely well received in that field.
